Kayaking Adventure: Vallon Pont D’Arc

Best. Kayaking. Trip. Ever.

Seriously I can’t get over the fact that I just kayaked in the Ardeche region of France. It took about 7 hours in total of kayaking but it was definitely worth it.

The whole time we were kayaking I kept thinking about all the history and background that had to happen in order for these gorges to form. It felt like the cliffs were as tall as the sun. I kept thinking I was at a theme park just waiting for a T-Rex to pop out at any minute. Since the beauty of the river reminded me of a pre-historic era.

My friends and I would make jokes, compare the rocks to paintings, and literally fight our way through the rapids. I could feel I was sun kissed by the warmth on my face.

Since we decided to make this a two day trip, half way through we decided to camp. By the time we reached the beach area, I was ready for a break. Little did we know, we forgot our dinner for the evening.

So while we were setting up our stuff for the night we ate every last bit of the snacks we brought, like we were scavengers. Playing crazy card games, belting out random songs that we thought we knew the words to. I couldn’t have imagined a better time.

The next morning we woke up my favorite way- the sun was shining and the birds were chirping. As soon as we got back into the kayaks we were ready for the day. About two hours in we decided to stop at a little town near by. We didn’t realize until AFTER docking our kayaks, that we made it to the end point. We just kept laughing at the fact that we thought we were just breaking for the day.

At the end of the day we ate pizza, ice cream, and mixed drinks to end our adventure at a nearby cafe. Even though we got wet, forgot our dinner, and ended early, it was a blast. These are adventurous I live for.
